If you plan on moving the drive around regularly I might look for something made with aluminum, or at least a higher quality plastic for durability. Downside is it’s kind of cheap and flimsy, though it’ll just sit on my desk and shouldn’t be subject to any significant stress, and the data and power ports are on the left/right sides of the enclosure, both on one side would be better for cable management. The Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD appears on the system information page in the BIOS, as well as disk management, device manager, and my PC. I also replaced the optical drive with the previous HDD on my MSI CX61 2PC.

Personally, I went with an Inateck enclosure I found on Amazon for $30, because it includes a powered USB hub so I get easier access to my USB ports. I purchased and installed a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD as an upgrade to my HDD. You could look for a USB 3.1 enclosure for up to 10 Gb/s, by you’re not going see the benefit without using something like RAID. 4.9.7 recognizes my 850 Pro, but of course the 960 Evo isn't supported in that version.

It was working last week, but last night I opened Magician 5 and it showed 'This drive is not supported' for both my 850 Pro and 960 Evo. It might not be as fast as Apple’s internal SSD, which isn’t limited by SATA, but is also much more expensive than a typical 2.5” SATA SSD. This just started happening for me as well.

SATA III is capable of 6Gb/s, USB 3.0 is 5Gb/s, your drive is about 4.3 Gb/s, so you’re not losing any performance from USB, aside from maybe having to share the bus with other devices, or a bit of overhead compared to a SATA slot on the logic board.
